Sorting System Services

If you’re running an fulfillment center, production line automation can ensure that your business runs as efficiently as possible. At Stinson’s, we specialize in automated sorting systems and custom solutions for your business.

We’ve built a solid reputation over the last twenty-two years by working around two basic principles. We provide high-quality solutions, and our clients can trust us completely. These are the guiding principles upon which our business is based, and our clients can attest to our success.

The simple fact is that as a business, you cannot afford downtime because your equipment is not functioning as well as it should. If your industrial carousel storage systems are offline, you’re not making any money.

With profit margins as tight as can be, this situation could be a disaster. That’s why we sell only proven components that last.

What Is a Sorting System Comprised Of?

That will depend on what kind of business you’re in, and what functionality you’ll need. Typically, though, the following subsystems will be present:

  • Merge: This can be automated or manual
  • Induction: This is where the spacing, ID, and also the tracking takes place
  • The Conveyor: This is for transporting the parcels to be sorted
  • The Post Sortation System: This is responsible for getting the products to the right area once they’ve been sorted

What Types of Sorting Systems Are There?

Broadly speaking, sorting systems are split into two categories – Linear and Looped.

Linear Systems

Linear systems work in one straight line. The products are placed at one end and then transported along until they’re sorted.

Looped Systems

A looped system is an excellent choice where space is more limited or where the area is an odd shape. With these systems, the product can be placed at any point along the track. Should the product not get started, it will simply move back to the beginning of the cycle again.

How Do Sorting Systems Work?

That depends on the system, but basically, the system identifies whether a particular parcel meets the predetermined criteria. If it does, it will be diverted accordingly. The product might be identified by scanning, checking the weight, or by whatever criteria you like.

Sorting systems that are well-thought-out and expertly installed could be one of the best investments that your company will make. Give us a call, and we’ll help you find the right match for your business.

We’ll handle the heavy lifting – all you need to do is worry about how you’re going to use the money that these systems will save you.
